UNDERWATER AND TOPSIDE
CAMERAWOMAN
French - UK Bristol Based
I'm a UK-based wildlife and conservation cinematographer with a passion for capturing stories both underwater and topside. Having spent most of my life in and around the ocean, filming beneath the surface feels like second nature, but I’m just as inspired by the challenges and beauty of topside environments. Each setting demands a unique set of skills, creativity, and problem-solving and I love blending different techniques to capture and share the stories of wildlife and the places they call home.
One of the greatest privileges of this work is meeting the extraordinary people who dedicate their lives to protecting the natural world. I’m also passionate about telling their stories, shining a light on their efforts to create a better future for our planet.
While my ultimate goal was always to become a camerawoman, I started in production, working as a shooting AP in New Zealand and later in the UK. My editorial experience was invaluable, giving me the ability to recognise powerful stories as they unfold and to shoot with the edit in mind.
Recently, I completed a bursary camera position at the BBC Natural History Unit, working on landmark productions, including Blue Planet III, Home Africa, and Home Asia. I’m now a freelance camerawoman, specializing in underwater, long lens, and drone cinematography.
Whether I’m submerged for hours or long-lensing, there’s nothing I enjoy more than spending long days behind the camera, figuring out how best to tell a compelling story. I thrive both independently and as part of a team, having filmed in remote locations from the tropics to the High Arctic, enduring extreme conditions from -55°C to +40°C. My experience includes shooting for blue-chip natural history, presenter-led sync and conservation productions.
Before diving into wildlife filmmaking full-time, I wore a few different hats. From being a social worker and carer for people with disabilities to working as a scuba instructor, my journey has taken me to live in incredible places like Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, Australia, New Zealand, Egypt, and the Maldives.
Eventually, my path led me back to university, where I earned a Master’s degree in Marine Biology in Australia and a Master’s in Science Communication, specialising in Natural History Filmmaking, in New Zealand. That blend of science and storytelling opened the door to the world of television.
The years I’ve spent underwater, combined with my academic background, have sharpened my attention to detail and deepened my understanding of animal behaviour, skills I bring to every shoot, whether underwater or topside.
